Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and detail oriented Mechanical Fitter to join our manufacturing team. The role involves the preparation, finishing and modification of precision mechanical components to meet required engineering specifications and quality standards.

The successful candidate will be hands-on, practical and quality-focused, with experience working with engineering components and a good understanding of mechanical fitting and finishing processes.

Key Responsibilities

Deburr machined components using appropriate hand and mechanical tools.

Drill and tap components accurately to engineering drawings and specifications.

Prepare and produce sealing faces to achieve the required finish and dimensional accuracy.

Polish and finish component surfaces to specified standards.

Carry out grit blasting and vapour blasting to achieve the required surface finish and cleanliness.

Orbital Sanding to create a uniform finish.

Remove sharp edges, machining marks and surface imperfections.

Inspect components throughout the fitting and finishing process to ensure they meet drawing and quality requirements.

Use a range of hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment safely and effectively.

Measure components using appropriate inspection equipment, such as verniers, micrometeors, gauges and other precision measuring tools.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions.

Identify defects or issues with components and report them appropriately.

Skills & Experience

Previous experience in a mechanical fitting, engineering or manufacturing environment.

Good practical mechanical skills and attention to detail.

Experience with deburring, drilling and tapping.

Experience preparing sealing faces and achieving specified surface finishes.

Experience with polishing and mechanical surface finishing.

Experience with grit blasting and/or vapour blasting is desirable.

Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

Competent using hand tools, power tools and basic workshop equipment.

Ability to accurately measure components and understand dimensional tolerances.
