Job Title: Production Planning Lead
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: Monday – Thursday 7:00 – 16:00, Friday 8:00 – 13:00 (39 hours)
Location: Wednesbury, West Midlands

Salary: £32-35K plus bonuses

 

About the Company:
A well-established manufacturing business, operating for over 50 years, is at the forefront of its industry thanks to high-quality products and a state-of-the-art machine shop. The business is continuing to expand and is seeking a skilled Production Planning Lead to support and improve production processes.

The Role:
You will be responsible for supporting the smooth running of production processes, including detailing materials, machines, labour, and time requirements for jobs, as well as ensuring quality standards are met. The role is mainly office-based but requires regular touchpoints on the shopfloor to monitor throughput and resolve issues such as staff or material shortages or machinery breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and detail production equipment, raw materials (build BOMs), and labour needs
  • Submit reports on throughput and production progress
  • Identify priority orders and plan accordingly to meet customer requirements
  • Work with management to resolve issues, setbacks, or quality concerns
  • Support Purchasing in anticipating raw material requirements
  • Facilitate meetings to review contracts, discuss process improvements, and reduce production costs
  • Prepare, complete, and file production paperwork in line with ISO 9001 quality procedures
  • Undertake other administrative tasks related to production planning and operations as needed

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in production planning in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams, including Engineering, Quality, and Production
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with operators to ensure smooth and timely production
  • Flexible, highly organised, and prepared to work hard in a busy environment
